WRITING

The 5th grade Writing Curriculum was created to follow the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.  The rubrics we will be using to grade most writing pieces and projects are used to provide a “hollistic” score. This means that we provide an overall score, that is based on the level of mastery pertaining to all of the elements on the rubric.

Throughout the year your child will be writing a variety of pieces that include, but are not limited to: Continuation Narratives, Narratives re-written from a new point of view, and Literary Analysis. Later in the year we will complete a Poetry Unit and a larger research project!
